Psychologist Session

I have had serval counselling sessions with my counsellor, Lydia, who is a great lady. She's always patient, compassionate, kind, and considerate of my needs. I was counselled for anorexia and the worry of relapsing since I tend to over exercise for an undesirable reason: to lose weight. I have a devilish obsession with specific demon thoughts that I have managed to overcome with breathing exercises.

If I sense danger in my thought patterns, I'll contact my partner, and I've requested him to call me throughout mealtimes to make sure I'm eating properly. I realized that I had influence over my ideas and actions, which had an impact on my actions and feelings. I improved as a result of the counseling because I can now consume ice cream, bread, and chips without feeling guilty or reducing calories. I felt joyful and lovable when I looked in the mirror.

Due to a part-time work, dance, and a handover for my present full-time employment, I was unfortunately quite busy around the end of June. As a result, I intend to wrap up the counseling session. I am grateful to God for sending Lydia to me as a counselor.

Before counselling, I was in a very bad place. I felt very worthless and that I wanted to end my life. I felt that I had no purpose of continuing living and that ending it would be the “easiest” way out. I had anxiety and wanted to isolate myself from everyone. I was constantly in a foul mood. However, after counselling, I started feeling much better and my mood improve tremendously. I no longer have suicidal thoughts. Together with the encouragement given to me by Lydia, I slowly learned how to cope and understand how I feel and what I want. From time to time, I still feel alone but then, with the skills and techniques Lydia taught me, I am slowly learning to adjust to my feelings. I used to get angry very quickly. I still do now, but I am slowly learning to breath and think through before lashing out my anger.

Lydia was a wonderful counsellor for me. She was always patient with me and encouraged me to take things slowly. I really appreciate the fact that she will compliment me no matter how insignificant my progress is, making me feel good about myself. She also taught me many techniques to cope with everything going on for me, which has helped me along the way. I will continue to work towards a better me with her encouraging words.

I had severe anxiety and sleep issues before starting counselling sessions with Lydia in November 2020. I had been taking sleeping medications since December 2019 and was having trouble coping with my daily life. I was hesitant to attend the counseling session at first because I believed it would be unlikely to assist me better my anxiety or sleep problems in any way. And just when I thought my life couldn't get much worse, I discovered that I'm also battling with Tinnitus.

During the counselling sessions, Lydia taught me a lot, notably about mediation techniques, which I used to challenge all of my negative thoughts. Lydia and I had a fruitful journey together, and I will continue on my quest to get off sleeping medications and seek employment once I move into my new house.
